To kick off our blog for 2025 we thought that we would explain the 3 styles of martial arts that Cojalina Martial Arts currently offer by giving an overview of the key differences between Wado Ryu Karate, Kickboxing, and Kick-Jutsu:
Wado Ryu Karate
Origins: Developed by Hironori Otsuka in Japan, Wado Ryu combines traditional karate with elements of jujutsu.
Focus: Emphasizes harmony and fluidity. It integrates defensive techniques, joint locks, and throws alongside striking.
Techniques: Includes punches, kicks, blocks, and sweeps. It also incorporates body shifting and evasion to redirect the opponent's force.
Training: Practitioners train in kata (forms), kihon (basics), and kumite (sparring). There is a strong emphasis on proper technique and form.
Philosophy: Focuses on spiritual and mental development alongside physical prowess.
Kickboxing

Philosophy: Focuses on practical skills that incorporates techniques from various martial arts to create a well-rounded fighting system.
