Kick-Jutsu Explained

What is Kick-Jutsu ?

As we are launching a new Kick Jutsu class in September we thought that in this week’s blog we would briefly outline and explain what Kick Jutsu is, continue reading to find out about this new exciting class at Cojalina Martial Arts.

Kick-Jitsu is an exciting program that brings together the most realistic combat sports into a single program. Kick-Jitsu combines the stand-up discipline of Kickboxing with the ground-based system of Japanese Jiu-jitsu, combining throws, locks, groundwork along with the kicks and strikes from Kickboxing. To make it even more effective and realistic we have mixed in highly effective techniques from Judo & Muay Thai to create a dynamic modern martial arts system that is super effective as a self defence system as well as one that transitions into sports competition for students who want to compete in kickboxing, Point sparring or grappling events.

Our Kick-Jitsu lessons follow the traditional martial arts foundations of Respect, Self-Control and Focus, while increasing fitness, strength and flexibility in a super fun environment. We use a progressive syllabus where you can, over time, see your skills and knowledge developing as you achieve new belts. Martial Arts is more than just a sport or learning to fight, it’s about becoming the best possible version of yourself, while building confidence that can set you up for any challenges you may face in the future, either within the martial arts or in your personal or professional life.

Our classes are perfect for students from age 10 years and over on a Monday night in Royston. In our Kick Jutsu classes you will find a fusion of Kickboxing and Jujitsu that incorporates the following key characteristics:

Striking Techniques:

Kick Jutsu practitioners utilise punches, kicks, elbow and knee strikes from the shoulders down, no strikes to the head or face.

Throws:

In our classes you will learn to execute several different throws, sweeps and takedowns

Grappling and Ground Game:

Jujutsu’s influence is evident in Kick Jutsu’s emphasis on ground fighting, so Cojalina Martial Arts students will learn mounts, guards & submissions to gain an advantage in close quarter ground work following a successful take down.

Conditioning and fitness:

As part of a typical class, you will take part in different body conditioning exercises along with high intensity cardio training.

The classes involve lots of pulling and pushing so you will wear a traditional Japanese style Ju Jitsu gi (uniform) along with a belt that you have earned through your kick Jutsu journey.

In summary, Kick Jutsu classes at Cojalina Martial Arts will follow a progressive grading syllabus that bridges the gap between striking and grappling, offering a new modern dynamic martial art that prepares practitioners for diverse situations allowing them to combine power, technique, and adaptability. 🥷🦵
